We collected school supplies and hygiene products for the disadvantaged children within our community. The Hartford asked our schools’ Title 1 programs what their students need the most, and here’s what they told us: *Tissues *Hand Sanitizer *Wipes *Calculators *Notebooks *Pens *Pencils *Markers *Rulers *Crayons *Backpacks *Ziploc Bags *Glue Sticks *Binders *Deodorant *Socks *Underwear *Toothbrushes *Toothpaste On Friday August 6th, 2010 we delivered the collected supplies to the Phoenix Union High School District Administrative Office!
Holiday 2010 The management and employees at Desert Mountain Insurance Services decided to change things up in 2010. Instead of having their typical employee and family Holiday dinner and secret santa gift exchange, they pulled together gifts, resources and donations for a family and senior in need. Every employee participated with open hearts and truly created a joy-filled environment in the office this past year.
Adopt-A-Family (Travis L. Williams Family Service Center) The holiday season is a time of stress and anxiety for low-income families when their budget already is stretched to pay bills. Buying gifts and decorations are a luxury few can afford. The city of Phoenix is asking individuals and groups to "adopt" a family for the holiday season. The participants' common goal is to support their families without welfare and to become self-sufficient in the near future. Last year, 400 families were assisted through the Adopt-A-Family Program. "I should have pictures for you soon. The "Family" was so grateful - "Mom" cried as her daughter helped me take the gifts in from my truck. She expressed her thanks and stated she felt very blessed someone could be so generous." ... "Again I appreciate the generosity of you and your staff and will keep in touch with a follow up. Thanks again." - Caseworker II

Adopt-A-Senior (Via Linda Senior Center) Zachary Matz a human services representative at Via Linda, said there are two goals when it comes to holiday donations: To identify seniors and disabled persons in need of more assistance. The second is to let donors bring some joy and happiness to those who need it during the season.
